Inaguration of Basava Utsav on 25-03-2011
The Inauguration Function of Second Basava Utsav started off at Ther Maidan Basavakalyan. The Dignitaries present on the occasion were Sri Revu Nayak Belamgi, Basavaraj Patil Attur, Sri Muruga Rajendra Swamiji and other sheers and Mathadipati along with MLA Bhalki, MLA Humnabad, ZP President , NEKSRTC President, President of Babu Jagajeev Ram Charma Udyog and many other present

Basava Utsav on 25-03-2011
The procession began from the Basavakalyan Fort on Friday morning. Basavakalyan came alive with performances by folk artistes during the inaugural procession of Basava Utsav.
Women's groups sang songs and recited ‘vachanas'. Veeragase artistes who were part of the procession performed at various circles and road junctions.Children dressed up as sharanas were seated atop tableaux of the city of Basavakalyan.
Artistes from Bidar-based Guru Nanak Jhira performed a mock fight and exhibited the use of arms. They also performed acrobatics to the sound of war cries.
Thousands of devotees from various districts of Karnataka and from Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh participated. The procession ended at Ther Maidan, the main venue of the utsav.

Basava Utsav 2011 A Three-day Cultural Event at Basavakalyan
The District Administration with funding from State Government is organizing a three-day Basava Utsav at Basavakalyan from March 25 Various artistes and cultural troupes will take part in the three-day Basava Utsav to be held at Basavakalyan..
Famous music director Guru Kiran and team will perform on the first day, singer Anuradha Paudwal and troupe will perform on the second day and Geeta Javadekar will present Basava Stuti and Vachana Sangeeta on the third day.
On March 25, Shivakumar Panchal and team will present the ‘Nada Geete'; Venkatesh Kumar will present a Hindustani concert; Pramod Upadhyaya and team will present a dance performance; Vaikunthadatta Maharaj will sing Keertans; Usha Prabhakar and team will perform Bharatanatya, and students of Karadyal Gurukul will present a play based on the life of Sharanas.
On March 26, Chitanapalli Srinivas and others will present a Carnatic music concert; Vivekananda Kala Tanda will present a group dance; Sharanappa Shahabad and others will render Tatvapadas; Geeta Patil will present a Hindustani concert; Ishwarappa Panchal and team will render Vachanas, and students of the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya will present a dance drama.
On March 27, Totappa Uttangi will render Vachanas; Gurushantayya Sthavarmath will present a Hindustani concert; Basavateertha Vidyalaya students will present Vachana Vaibhava; Suvarna Rathod of Bhalki will render Vachanas; Baburao Kubal and team will present folk songs; Rani Satyamurthy and others will present a Bharatanatya performance; and Ashok Inamdar and others will render light music,
